David O’Leary & Sean Jablonski talk Project Blue Book and #SaveBlueBook Campaign & more

David O'Leary & Sean Jablonski - Den of Geek interview

Perhaps the most exciting news this week have been the interviews with Project Blue’s book creator David O’Leary and showrunner Sean Jablonski talking about the show’s future and the fan-run #SaveBlueBook campaign.

👽 Both David O’Leary and Sean Jablonski recently participated in a livestream interview with the scifi site DenofGeek about Project Blue Book’s cancellation as well as its future. The video is available on their Facebook and YouTube pages. “History has sort of opted out of the scripted series business,” says Jablonski. “Which is in some ways good for us, because the studio that produces and ultimately pays for the show is committed to finding another home for it like on a streaming service, which we feel could present a larger audience for us.” You can read the rest of the writeup at the link below, but if you have an hour, I defnitely recommend watching the video: https://www.denofgeek.com/tv/project-blue-book-season-3-showrunner-interview/

A fun part of the interview was when Sean Jablonski showed the fans a special beer bottle that the props department made. You can see it in the featured image for this article (above).

👽 MonstersandCritics.com released a timely article – “Help save Project Blue Book as scripted television migrates away from basic cable.” David O’Leary and Sean Jablonski discuss the reasons why History didn’t pick up the show (NOT ratings but a shift in the entertainment paradigm).  Some excerpts from this big article and in particular, on the fan-started petition: “If we can get the kinds of numbers that go up into the 50,000-60,000 plus signatures, it becomes undeniable.” The biggest thing that all successful resurrections had was one thing —momentum.

“There’s a real, robust drive by the fans to continue the show and an appetite and encouraging love,” he said. “Especially with all the problems that are going on in the world, that fans are spending time out of their day to lobby their support is huge!”

O’Leary urged fans to continue hoping and keep the flame burning. “Our studio head is aware of where we’re at with this and [executive producer] Bob Zemeckis is aware, everyone tracks this stuff on social media. It’s not just going into the void in any kind of way,” he said.

👽 And Michael Malarkey, our own Captain Quinn, disclosed on his Instagram that he will do a music ‘gig’ – platform to be determined – on his birthday (June 21st). So if you’re interested, mark that date on your calendar and follow him on his Instagram. At last count, about 92K fans seemed interested!

👽 Are you in the market for some official Project Blue Book merchandise? History Channel is running a 20% off sale this Memorial Day weekend. You must use the code MEMORIALDAY and it runs through May 25th. With no pickup for Project Blue Book, it’s extremely doubtful that once an item is gone that they will restock, plus 20% is hard to beat. Alas, there are no international shipments being done right now, so if you’re dying for a coffee mug, maybe a friend in the US can get one for you. Here’s the link to the page that counts 😊 : https://www.historystore.com/collections/project-blue-book

👽 The #SaveBlueBook campaign petition has climbed over 11.5K signatures, but we definitely need more! Every single signature shows a prospective buyer of the show that there IS passionate interest in the series, that it has a dedicated  fanbase, so please sign and share if you haven’t done so before. It doesn’t matter what country you live in or what language it’s shown in – #ProjectBlueBook #proyectolibroazul #ProyectoBlueBookTNT #ProjetoBlueBook #ProjekatPlavaKnjiga #proyectolibroazul プロジェクトブルーブック- or whether you’ve seen both seasons or have just started watching season 2, NOW is the time to make your voice heard!

And that’s it for this Friday. Stay tuned for more news as it we find it!
