The NY Times Compares Fact to Fiction

The authors of this NY Times piece spend more column inches discussing the real life Project Blue Book and Allen Hynek than they do talking about the series, but it’s a good starting point if you’re not familiar with the events that inspired the show.

In most cases, I’d take offense at words like “melodramatic” and “flagrant embellishment” being used to describe one of my favorite shows, but in this case, it’s kind of a given. This isn’t a History Channel documentary, it’s an entertaining “inspired by” work of fiction that has to ramp up the drama if they want viewers to tune in every week.

Quartz also published a lighter version of the same concept over here.
